The Technology Transfer Hub organized a meeting within the framework of the mission that executives of Peruvian companies carry out in Chile, which will allow establishing a collaborative work to solve the challenges that arise.
To publicize the main current requirements of Chilean mining was the objective of the talk that Andes Pacific Technology Access (APTA) carried out, bringing together representatives of Peruvian companies that are in Chile within the framework of an Innovation mission promoted by the International Promotion Agenda of Peru – Promperú.
The link between both entities was managed through the consulting firm Softpower Connections, in order to establish a collaborative work between the firms of our country and the neighboring nation; in order to present the challenges faced by Chilean mining to initiate joint projects that allow the development of solution proposals and promote the portfolio of technologies that APTA has, created by recognized national universities.
The presentation of the challenges was made by Juan Daniel Silva, director of the Center for Innovation in Mining at the Adolfo Ibáñez University, a partner institution of APTA. “The three challenges we present have to do with smart mining, with low-grade mineral extraction and sustainability; basically energy, water and mining waste ”, explained the academic.
Likewise, the UAI researcher valued the activity coordinated by the Technology Transfer Hub. “This type of initiative, such as APTA’s, to link three actors in order to find solutions that create value for all parties is very relevant. I hope that we remain linked to see how we can collaborate and help them to do things in Chile and we do things in Peru, ”added Silva.
During this activity, APTA members also prepared a talk called “Technology Transfer: keys to generate R&D with impact”, where the work of the “Hub” and the experiences at the national level on the steps of technological management carried out by institutions such as universities to achieve innovations that contribute to the economy and society. In addition, the work of the association for the lifting of mining challenges and collaborative management with universities, R&D centers and companies that develop services for the industry was presented.
“I rescue the articulation work that they have done, I think it is very important. The amount of researchers that they bring together – which is something very powerful -, the experience of how to create an organization that manages to generate transfer from the academy to the product and how to generate synergies; making research and the university go hand in hand with private companies and help mining, which is key in both Chile and Peru, ”said Joao Da Silva, market intelligence specialist at the intelligence and business prospects subdirectorate. from Promperú; who was present with representatives of six Peruvian firms.
Finally, Varinka Farren, executive director of Andes Pacific Technology Access, pointed out that “establishing this type of ties is very important, since it allows us to connect with international actors and look for ways to develop collaborative projects between leading countries in Mining such as Chile and Peru. In addition, it allows us to cross borders and publicize the work that institutions such as APTA are doing ”, he concluded.
It should be noted that Andes Pacific Technology Access is a “Technology Transfer Hub”, an association in charge of promoting the innovations generated by leading Chilean universities at a global level.
