Peruvian food companies visit Chile to boost bilateral trade

The activity, carried out at the Centro Lyon event center, is organized by Softpower Connections, a consulting firm specialized in supporting companies in the process of internationalization and market penetration, in conjunction with the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism ( PromPeru).

“Our mission is to promote business intelligence and Food Week is an initiative that for several days will allow us to talk about the challenges of the food industry towards 2050, trends in innovation, internationalization gaps, among many others. For this reason, we invite Peruvian and Chilean companies to take advantage of this meeting space and to generate new business and in the future export to third markets ”, says Jennyfer Salvo, Director of Softpower Connections.

According to information published by the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations, last year Chile’s trade with Peru reached US $ 2,888 million, reaching an annual growth of 6.8%. This is explained by the expansion experienced by imports, which were offset by the decline in exports to Peru. Specifically in processed foods, from 2017 to 2018 there was an increase of 2.2%, reaching US $ 204 million.

For its part, PromPerú confirms that Chile ranks second among Latin American countries among export destinations for Peruvian products. Worldwide it is the tenth.

Among the participating companies and institutions are Inka Prime Quality, Anku, Calarina, Nattu Regional Food, Agrosuper, Comercial GES, Transforma Alimentos, Centro Regional de Estudios en Alimentos Saludables (CREAS) Fundación para la Innovación Agraria (FIA), Hub Andes Pacific Technology Access (APTA), Technological Center for Food Innovation (CETA), Start Up Chile and Imagine Lab.
